Job description

Clinical Governance Lead/Clinical Educator

We are pleased to announce a fantastic opportunity within the Neonatal service at Rotherham NHS Trust.

This role will support the neonatal team in providing high-quality care through effective clinical governance and staff education.

As neonatal Governance Lead, you will work as part of the care group's Governance team, leading all aspects of Clinical Governance related to neonatal practice.

As a neonatal Clinical Educator, you will support and facilitate clinical education in collaboration with educators and practice development leads within our care group and the neonatal ODN.

This provides an opportunity to ensure governance processes are supported with clinical skills and education to maintain an appropriately educated and skilled workforce practicing safely and effectively.

The post holder will work closely with the Ward Manager, deputising in their absence, and collaborate with the Neonatal Clinical Lead, Governance Lead for Children and Young People's Services, and the wider MDT to monitor and evaluate compliance against local, network, and national standards of practice.

Main duties of the job

Duties include supporting the team to identify and manage risks associated with neonatal inpatient and community care. The post holder will support the team to report and investigate clinical incidents and be responsible for identifying trends, themes, and learning. You will oversee all aspects of patient experience, including investigating complaints and concerns and sharing service user feedback. You will work collaboratively with the Clinical Effectiveness team to support quality improvements, clinical audits, and service developments, including supporting data submission for audits and monitoring performance against national standards.

The Clinical Educator Role:

The duties include facilitating and providing specialty-specific clinical education. You will identify learning needs for the service and individual staff development, monitor compliance with mandatory and statutory training, and support changes in clinical practice and service developments. You will collaborate with practice development staff within our care group and engage in clinical learning experiences provided by the Neonatal ODN. Both roles involve embedding changes to clinical practice and ensuring the service delivers Family Integrated Care safely and effectively.
