This is an exciting opportunity to undertake a one-year clinical fellowship, designed to provide sub-specialty experience in pulmonary intervention. The post would be well-suited to a respiratory trainee as an out-of-programme experience during specialist training, or as a post-CCT fellowship. The post provides a unique opportunity for a fellow to become an independent operator in endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and develop their pleural intervention skills, including local anaesthetic thoracoscopy.
Most patients requiring intervention are on a lung cancer diagnostic pathway, and the fellow will contribute to the weekly Lung MDT and chair the weekly pleural MDT. The post holder will be expected to participate in departmental education and research.
If the post-holder is applying as a post-CCT fellow, they will also have the option of contributing to the acute medical take at SMH at consultant level, including providing respiratory input into newly admitted acute medical patients.
This is one-year clinical fellowship post designed to provide sub-specialty experience in pulmonary intervention.
The fellow will conduct a weekly supervised EBUS / bronchoscopy list.
A significant proportion of patients requiring intervention are on a lung cancer diagnostic pathway, and the Trust is currently working towards delivering the National Optimal Lung Cancer Pathway. The fellow will contribute towards this work by attending the weekly lung cancer MDT and contributing to a weekly lung cancer clinic.
The fellow will also chair the weekly pleural MDT and contribute to a weekly pleural clinic.
The fellow will conduct a minimum of 3 supervised weekly pleural lists and will support ward teams with pleural intervention and pleural advice.
They will be expected to participate in departmental education and research.
