A leading NHS Trust invites applications for a fixed-term Clinical Fellowship at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre, Royal Derby Hospital. This role offers extensive operative experience in hand surgery, alongside opportunities for professional development and research. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team committed to providing excellent patient care and advancing clinical practice.
The department comprises 11 Consultant Hand Surgeons, 5 Clinical Fellows, 1 Senior Fellow, and a Clinical/Research Fellow established through the University of Derby. Annually, approximately 4,000 operations are performed, with over 7,000 new patient attendances. The department manages all aspects of hand injury and disease.
Research opportunities are available, with the Hand Centre holding a high academic profile in the field. Clinical duties include staffing outpatient clinics and elective operating lists, with procedures ranging from Rheumatoid to Congenital, Brachial Plexus, and micro-surgery.
Both trauma and elective surgeries are conducted at Royal Derby Hospital, providing extensive operative experience, supervised and unsupervised. Hand Fellows are expected to supervise trauma patient care, including ward duties. Peripheral clinics are held at Ilkeston, Balderton, Uttoxeter, Ashbourne, and in Rheumatology clinics.
