Job summary

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Clinical Engineer on a fixed-term basis to inspect, test, maintain and repair a broad range of medical equipment. The role involves working with medium-high risk devices, fault diagnosis near patients, and compiling accurate maintenance records.

The post requires practical qualifications and the ability to mentor junior staff. You will engage with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure best value and quality across the Trust’s clinical engineering

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining a wide range of medical devices.
• Hands-on fault diagnosis and calibration
• Understanding clinical applications of medical devices
• Ability to work with manufacturers and across teams
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and compliance with policies

Responsibilities

• Service and repair medical devices in line with procedures and policies.
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM), fault-finding, repair and calibration of medium-high risk equipment.
• Understand clinical applications and discuss issues with medical staff.
• Work on devices near patients and potential hazards; maintain safety.
• Mentor junior staff and support in ISO 9000 QA implementation.
• Liaise with manufacturers for spares and data; monitor stock levels.
