Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Harrow is seeking an experienced Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality assessments and therapy for adults with complex mental health needs. The role is full time, 37.5 hours across 5 days, with DBS checks and ongoing professional development.

You will carry out psychological assessments, provide individual and group therapy, work with staff and families, and contribute to service development and research.

Qualifications

• Qualified Psychologist with professional registration.
• Experience in adult mental health.
• Knowledge of mental health legislation and risk assessment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out psychological assessments and provide therapy to individuals and groups.
• Work systemically with staff, as well as directly with service users.
• Consult with staff, families and other agencies about psychological care.
• Offer psychological insight to the multidisciplinary team and support risk decisions.

• Cygnet Hospital Harrow provides a recovery focused service treating a wide range of mental health problems. We also offer specialist diagnostic, assessment and inpatient services for individuals with mental health needs and who also have a dual diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
• Your day-to-day…
• Carry out psychological assessments & provide therapy to individuals & groups
• Work systemically with staff, as well as directly with service users
• Consult with staff, families & other agencies about the psychological care of the client group
• Offer psychological insight & knowledge to the multidisciplinary team
• Support the clinical, nursing & direct care teams in making skilled evaluations & decisions about risk
• Evaluate the service, contribute to its development & carry out clinical research.

We are looking for someone who is…

• An experienced Psychologist, ideally with an adult mental health client group
• Experienced in working as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Knowledgeable of mental health legislation, risk assessment & risk management principles
• Preferably trained in complex therapies such as Schema focused, Cognitive Analytical & DBT
• Passionate about working with people with a range of complex mental health needs
• Capable of treating difficulties such as self-harm, physical & verbal aggression, history of sexual offending & drug & alcohol problems
• An excellent communicator.
