Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Harrow is seeking an experienced Psychologist to join a wide-ranging mental health service. You will deliver assessments and therapy across adult populations within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to risk management and clinical care.

This full-time role involves 37.5 hours over five days, enhanced DBS clearance, and a commitment to ongoing professional development. Applications welcome from clinicians seeking a challenging, yet rewarding career.

Qualifications

• Qualified Psychologist with registration in good standing.
• Experience in adult mental health is preferred.
• Experience in multidisciplinary teams is desirable.
• DBS check is required for employment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out psychological assessments and provide therapy to individuals and groups.
• Work systemically with staff and service users to plan care.
• Consult with families and other agencies about the client’s psychological care.
• Offer psychological insight to the multidisciplinary team and contribute to risk decisions.
• Support clinical, nursing and direct care teams in evaluating risk and care planning.
• Contribute to service evaluation and clinical research.

• Cygnet Hospital Harrow provides a recovery focused service treating a wide range of mental health problems. We also offer specialist diagnostic, assessment and inpatient services for individuals with mental health needs and who also have a dual diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
• Your day-to-day…
• Carry out psychological assessments & provide therapy to individuals & groups
• Work systemically with staff, as well as directly with service users
• Consult with staff, families & other agencies about the psychological care of the client group
• Offer psychological insight & knowledge to the multidisciplinary team
• Support the clinical, nursing & direct care teams in making skilled evaluations & decisions about risk
• Evaluate the service, contribute to its development & carry out clinical research.

We Are Looking For Someone Who Is…

• An experienced Psychologist, ideally with an adult mental health client group
• Experienced in working as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Knowledgeable of mental health legislation, risk assessment & risk management principles
• Preferably trained in complex therapies such as Schema focused, Cognitive Analytical & DBT
• Passionate about working with people with a range of complex mental health needs
• Capable of treating difficulties such as self-harm, physical & verbal aggression, history of sexual offending & drug & alcohol problems
• An excellent communicator.
