Job summary

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist to join the Blood Sciences team. The role is based primarily at Sheffield Children's Hospital with rotational duties across sites, including evenings and weekends as part of a 24/7 rota.

Applicants should have IBMS credentials or be ready for assessment; Band 5 or Band 6 depending on experience, with a salary range of £32,073 to £48,117 per year.

Qualifications

• BSC in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent (IBMS accreditation)
• HCPC registration as Biomedical Scientist
• IBMS portfolio completion or equivalent for Band 5
• Mandatory training and laboratory competencies required
• IBMS Specialist Diploma for Band 6 (if applicable)
• Commitment to CPD and professional development

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific services to patients to aid clinical diagnosis
• Perform a range of manual, semi-automated and automated tests
• Comment on and validate results in line with ISO 15189
• Work in 24/7 out-of-hours rota
• Maintain high scientific and technical standards
• Maintain complex laboratory equipment
• Monitor quality and assist with audits
• Monitor stock and assist in ordering and organising
• Participate in CPD activities
