Job summary

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is inviting a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join the Blood Sciences team in Haematology and Blood Transfusion at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The role supports a 24/7 diagnostic service within a 37.5-hour week, including evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

You will contribute to a high-quality service, developing proficiency across Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology and Blood Transfusion, deputising when needed and taking lead

Qualifications

• HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with post-registration experience.
• Understand, organise and perform a range of laboratory procedures.
• Attain proficiency in Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology and Blood Transfusion to support 24/7 service.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the provision of a diagnostic service.
• Carry out laboratory procedures to the standard required for HCPC registration.
• Participate in 24/7 Blood Science service, including out-of-hours work as needed.
• deputise for Senior BMS staff in their absence and lead a specialist section as required.
• Support out-of-hours service as lone worker or team leader.
