Job summary

The Climbing Centre at YMCA Community & Activity Village in Newark is seeking a dedicated Climbing Instructor to join our team. You will lead sessions across a full timetable, ensuring safety, excellent customer service and a welcoming environment for climbers of all abilities.

You will hold a Climbing Wall (CWI) or Rock Climbing Instructor (RCI) qualification, have strong communication skills, and enjoy sharing your passion for climbing with others.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Climbing Wall (CWI) or Rock Climbing Instructor (RCI) qualification.
• Excellent communication skills across diverse age groups and backgrounds.
• Ability to lead and supervise a group of climbers, ensuring safety at all times.

Responsibilities

• Interact positively and confidently with climbers, their families and visitors to create a welcoming atmosphere.
• Lead and support all sessions in the timetable including boulder tots, youth climbing, NICAS, Wild Climbers, Clip n climb, adult coaching and community sessions.
• Open and close the Climbing Center as part of the team.
• Respond to enquiries, take bookings, update registers, and send email communications.
• Act as a lifeguard within the facility and perform health & safety checks.
