Job summary

YMCA Robin Hood Group in Newark invites applications for a Climbing Instructor. The role involves delivering a varied timetable of climbing activities, from boulder tots to NICAS and adult coaching, while helping with bookings, safety, and customer experience.

You will work shifts across opening hours and support events, with first aid qualification preferred. The successful candidate will be a passionate climber, strong communicator, and capable of instructing groups safely, inspiring climbers

Qualifications

• Must hold a Climbing Wall Instructor (CWI) or Rock Climbing Instructor (RCI) qualification.
• Strong communication and Customer service skills are essential.
• Comfortable instructing a group of climbers with safety at the forefront.

Responsibilities

• Engage climbers and visitors, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
• Lead on sessions including boulder tots, youth, NICAS and adult coaching.
• Open and close the Climbing Centre as part of the team.
• Handle bookings, inquiries, registrations, and email communications.
• Act as lifeguard in the facility and perform safety checks as required.
• Assist with route setting and maintenance of climbing areas.
• Provide first aid when needed and support large events and competitions.
