Job summary

The Climbing Hangar Southampton is seeking a Deputy General Manager to lead a welcoming, customer-focused environment across reception, retail, coaching and café. You’ll balance commercial performance with outstanding member experiences and help grow community partnerships.

Working hours are 40 per week, including weekdays, evenings and weekends. You’ll oversee operations, ensure safety, support events, and mentor teams, with 28 days leave, staff discounts, and wellbeing support.

Qualifications

• Supervisory or managerial experience leading teams in hospitality, leisure, retail, fitness or similar customer-focused environments.
• Committed to safeguarding and creating inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcome.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Champion a welcoming, inclusive, and customer-focused environment across the site.
• Support staff in achieving membership sales, retention and customer loyalty.
• Create an exceptional customer experience for climbers of all ages and abilities.
• Build relationships within the local climbing and wider community.
• Oversee day-to-day operations across reception, retail, coaching and café.
• Ensure the highest standards of health, safety and safeguarding.
• Support events, competitions and community initiatives.
• Work closely with teams across Operations, Marketing, Finance and People.
