What You’ll Do:

Your Impact:

As the Climate Resilience Project Manager, you will support our Natural Resources team in promoting biodiversity, providing habitat for rare species, buffering climate impacts, sequestering carbon, and inspiring public engagement. This role marks an exciting phase with a focus on habitat restoration, climate resiliency, and nature-based solutions.

The Role:

You will support ongoing projects and seek new opportunities, partnerships, and grants. Projects include dam removal, riparian restoration, forest resilience, and other innovative efforts for carbon sequestration and resource protection. You will collaborate with ecologists, property managers, communications, education staff, and the development team to fund, implement, and promote these initiatives.

Specifically, you’ll:

  • Implement strategic restoration projects addressing climate resilience and biodiversity on Trustees properties.
  • Manage all project stages from scoping to monitoring.
  • Oversee contracts with design and modeling firms.
  • Manage complex funding structures, including grants and donor funds.
  • Identify funding sources and write grants.
  • Build coalitions with partners for collaboration, permitting, and funding.
  • Interpret climate vulnerability assessments with Inland Ecology.
  • Promote projects through media, social media, and public engagement.
  • Educate audiences about project goals.

This full-time position reports to the Director of Inland Ecology.

Requirements

What You’ll Need:

  • B.S. or B.A. in ecology, biology, wildlife management, environmental science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • At least 2 years of habitat restoration or climate adaptation project management experience (advanced degree may substitute).
  • Knowledge of ecological restoration specific to the Northeastern U.S.
  • Experience managing projects with multiple funding sources and partners.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS.
  • Strong understanding of ecology, habitat restoration, and climate resilience solutions.
  • Excellent communication and partnership-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.
  • Experience in grant writing.
  • Computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Eligibility:

  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to work outdoors and hike moderate slopes.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory background check.

Working Conditions:

  • Based in western Massachusetts with some remote work and travel across the state.
  • Flexible schedule due to seasonal fieldwork and meetings.
