Job Description:

We are currently recruiting for a Climate Change and Sustainability Senior Programme and Policy Officer in Stormont. The successful candidates will be required to start once the vetting paperwork, ANI clearance has been completed.

Duration: 6 months

Rate of pay: £22.65

Hours of work: Mon-Fri 9-5

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of the Unit in developing and delivering a Climate Change Response Programme 2025-2030 for the Department of Justice.
  • Progress the department’s Outline Sustainability Strategy, 2023 through annual action plans.
  • Oversee sustainability actions within the Department’s Asset Management Plan 2024-2029.
  • Create a database of departmental carbon consumables related information.
  • Deliver a Staff Engagement and Education Programme.

There is a significant element of written work, including:

  • Briefings to the Minister on Climate Change, including executive papers, briefing notes for Chairs of the Asset Management Board and Climate Change Oversight Group, SMT and Management Board papers, Ministerial correspondence, departmental returns to DAERA, and contributions to NICAP.
  • The postholder will provide first drafts of these documents for the Head of Unit.

Start date: ASAP

Duration: 6 months

Rate of pay: £22.65

Hours of work: Mon-Fri 9-5

Essential Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in stakeholder engagement, policy development, leadership, corporate governance, strategy, negotiation, discretion, financial management, and communication skills.
