Job summary

Test Valley Borough Council is seeking an officer to join the Strategic Planning and Growth service, blending strategic planning with climate change work. The role supports the local plan under the gateway system and helps deliver the climate emergency action plan and climate change grant initiatives.

You will collaborate with colleagues across the council, liaise with elected members, and engage with external partners.

Job description

An opportunity exists within the Strategic Planning and Growth service to join in a role that blends strategic planning and climate change work The environment is one of the council’s strategic priorities - the natural environment and climate change really matter to the people of Test Valley

This is an exciting time to join the team We are commencing work on our local plan under the new ‘gateway’ system, and you will be part of the team helping to shape this strategy, particularly regarding the environment We are also responsible for the council’s climate change grant, which the person taking on this position would have a key role in delivering You would also be supporting the implementation and monitoring of our climate emergency action plan

We are looking for someone who has some experience with the planning system and environmental matters including climate change You will be able to work collaboratively, have excellent communication and organisation skills, be able to balance competing priorities, and have an attention for detail

This role offers the opportunity to work with colleagues across the council, engage with elected members, and liaise with other organisations and help to support communities in the borough It will be office based in Andover and offers flexibility to allow for some home working
