Job summary

Lamont Pridmore in Workington is seeking an experienced Accounts Senior / Client Accountant to take ownership of an established client portfolio. You will combine technical accounting expertise with commercial insight, acting as a trusted adviser to owner-managed and family-run businesses.

This permanent, full-time role offers a competitive salary of £38,500–£49,500 plus an annual performance bonus up to 17%.

Qualifications

• Experience in a client-facing role within an accountancy practice.
• Experience managing a diverse portfolio of clients.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge gained in practice.
• A commercial mindset with SME understanding.
• Experience using accounts preparation software.
• Good working knowledge of cloud accounting software (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks).
• Excellent communication and client-centric relationship skills.
• Strong organisational skills with ability to prioritise deadlines.
• Proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of owner-managed and family businesses, acting as main contact and delivering high-quality services.
• Plan, prepare and review financial accounts within deadlines and budgets.
• Produce monthly, quarterly and half-yearly management reports.
• Present financial information clearly to support business decisions.
• Identify opportunities to improve tax efficiency and business performance.
• Develop strong client relationships through proactive communication and service.
• Work with senior leaders to improve internal processes and maintain high standards.
• Contribute to growth through referrals and opportunities within the client portfolio.
