Job summary

Cathedral Appointments is recruiting a Payroll Administrator to join its payroll team in Torquay. You will own a portfolio of client payrolls, ensuring they are processed accurately and on time.

This client-facing role suits someone with payroll experience who can manage deadlines, build lasting relationships, and work both independently and as part of a supportive team. Hybrid working after probation (office Tue-Thu, home Mon/Fri) is offered.

Qualifications

• Payroll experience with knowledge of payroll legislation.
• Experience managing a portfolio of clients or payrolls.
• Excellent client service and professional manner.
• High accuracy and numeracy with methodical, organised approach.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Good IT skills with Word, Outlook and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Process a varied range of client payrolls accurately and on time as part of a supportive team.
• Manage your own portfolio of clients and prioritise work to meet deadlines.
• Onboard new client payrolls, checking data accuracy and identifying ways to make processes more efficient.
• Liaise with HMRC on employer payments and payroll-related queries.
• Keep up to date with payroll legislation and apply changes correctly.
• Respond to client queries promptly, accurately and within agreed timescales.
