Job summary

Oakham Veterinary Hospital is seeking a friendly Receptionist to join our team on a part-time basis. You’ll be the first point of contact for clients, delivering a welcoming and professional experience while supporting appointment bookings and client communications.

Working pattern includes 30 hours per week with evenings and Saturdays on a rota. You’ll join a team of experienced veterinary staff and non-clinical colleagues dedicated to high-quality client care and animal welfare.

We are seeking an organised, personable Receptionist to join our team at Oakham Vets on a part-time permanent basis.

You’ll be joining an experienced team of 8 Veterinary Surgeons, including certificate holders, alongside a nursing team of 15 and an existing team of 8 non-clinical support staff.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for clients, playing a key role in delivering a welcoming, professional and compassionate experience at every interaction.

You’ll support the smooth running of the practice by managing appointments, handling enquiries, supporting client communications and working closely with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to ensure a positive client and patient journey.

Working Pattern

  • 30 hours per week, shift pattern to be agreed but to include 8pm finish on Tuesdays, full day 8.30-6.30 Fridays and cover for Saturdays on a rota basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaising with the clients and the clinical staff to provide a high level of customer care.
    Meeting and greeting clients and pets.
    Booking appointments and diary management.
    Managing telephone and email enquiries.
    Taking payment for services and products.
    Managing cash and end-of-day banking.
    Maintaining a clean and safe space for our clients and their pets.
    Support with daily banking and debt management processes
