Qualifications

Job description
The Role

As Clerk of Works, you'll play a vital role in ensuring quality and compliance within our Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) and Planned Works programs. You'll perform site inspections, ensure adherence to building standards, provide technical advice, and liaise with contractors and customers to maintain project momentum.

  • Performing frequent inspections at project sites to assess construction quality, ensuring that works align with contractual specifications, building standards, and design details
  • Logging inspection reports, issuing reports for non-compliance, and maintaining a comprehensive audit trail. Accurate records are crucial for internal use and external audits as required by SHDF and planned works requirements
  • Serving as a point of contact on-site for contractors, guiding them on project requirements and ensuring compliance with the SHDF and planned works programs
  • Providing technical support and advice to ensure adherence to construction and retrofit best practices, specifically in energy efficiency and sustainable design, helping meet SHDF's goals
  • Acting as a liaison between the project team and customers, ensuring they understand the scope and benefits of retrofit and planned works projects
  • Regularly assessing quality control processes and suggesting improvements
About you

Experience in a Clerk of Works or similar quality assurance role, preferably in housing or public sector. You'll need to demonstrate in-depth technical knowledge and exceptional attention to detail, focusing on retrofitting and energy efficiency improvements. You'll also need:

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Building Studies, Construction Management, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of construction standards, building regulations, energy efficiency measures, and sustainable building practices, particularly in relation to retrofit and decarbonisation projects
  • Ability to meticulously inspect works to ensure quality and compliance with standards
  • Demonstrable experience in identifying quality issues and recommending solutions that align with project objectives
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various sites as required
