Job Title: Team Leader - Cleaning Services

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Team Leader to manage all cleaning activities, direct cleaning colleagues, and ensure the use of cleaning chemicals and techniques according to manuals and specifications. The role involves undertaking cleaning activities as necessary, seeking ways to improve standards and flexibility within the team, and assisting the Fleet Presentation Manager when required.

Your main responsibilities will include:

1. Create, maintain, and enhance effective working relationships.
2. Exchange information to solve problems and participate in decision-making.
3. Seek ways to improve standards and flexibility within the cleaning team.
4. Comply with safety standards at all times.
5. Plan and coordinate tasks with others working on the same unit, vehicle(s), or location.
6. Ensure documentation of tasks is completed, including the use of IT systems where trained.
7. Develop processes with teams, individuals, and self to enhance performance, monitor, record, and take corrective actions as needed.
8. Plan workload, monitor, and control resources, including material requests.
9. Ensure materials are available by ordering via the local process or advising the Materials team.
10. Arrange for colleague accommodation, workplace, and train cleaning as required.

You'll need to be:

• A proven leader capable of working independently.
• Able to complete tasks to set standards and specifications, adhering to GWR standards.
• Committed to encouraging a team to deliver high-quality cleaning services.
• Enthusiastic, well-organized, and proactive in your approach.
• Willing to deliver training and keep documentation up to date.

Minimum requirements:

• Recognized Leadership Qualifications.
• Understanding of COSHH and Health & Safety regulations.
• Experience using Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Desire to learn new skills and develop professionally.
• NVQ Level 1 or 2 in Cleaning and Support Services or working towards it.
• Previous experience in cleaning and/or support services.

Additional information:

This position is based at Reading Train Care Depot. The working pattern involves an average of 35 hours per week with flexibility required. The role involves permanent night shifts across a 7-day rota, including weekends and Bank Holidays. This campaign will also create a reserve list for future vacancies within six months.
