Job summary

Grace's Bakery Ltd in Ryde is seeking a Cleaning Team Lead to supervise a small cleaning team and maintain high hygiene standards in the bakehouse.

You will organise daily tasks, support rota changes, train new staff and ensure COSHH compliance while keeping operations on schedule during busy periods.

Qualifications

• Has cleaning experience in a food production, catering or similar environment (preferred).
• Has experience leading and motivating others.
• Has understanding of COSHH and safe use of cleaning chemicals.

Cleaning Team Lead

Grace's Bakery is looking for a Cleaning Team Lead to join our small cleaning team! If you enjoy working on your feet and you're particular about cleanliness, then this could be the job for you!

Job Role and Responsibilities

• Allocating and overseeing the cleaning team and daily cleaning tasks
• Supporting with rota changes and cover arrangements for absences
• Ensuring cleaning and hygiene standards are met across all areas and equipment
• Following cleaning procedures that prevent cross-contamination
• Ensuring sign off and accurate completion of cleaning records and checklists
• Carrying out regular spot checks, supporting with internal audits and addressing any shortfalls in standards
• Carrying out and overseeing deep cleans, including ovens, mixers, proving and cooling equipment
• Ensuring cleaning chemicals are stored, labelled and used safely in line with COSHH
• Participating in stock takes and liaising with Head Office to procure cleaning supplies
• Inducting and training new team members in cleaning procedures, safe use of chemicals and equipment
• Acting as the first point of contact for the team and escalating issues to management
• Participating in regular housekeeping checks and report any issues promptly through the correct channels

We're looking for someone who

• Has cleaning experience in a food production, catering or similar environment (preferred)
• Has experience of leading and motivating others
• Has experience cleaning machinery and equipment (desirable)
• Has an understanding of COSHH and safe use of cleaning chemicals
• Is comfortable working on their feet
• Enjoys a busy and active team environment
• Is organised and has strong attention to detail
• Is reliable and punctual
• Has a positive and enthusiastic attitude

Hours and Pay

• £12.71 per hour
• 3-5 days a week (up to 5 during busy periods of the year and during periods of holiday/sickness cover)
• 15 - 40 hours a week (up to 40 for holiday/sickness cover)
• Any day Monday to Saturday
• Shifts are variable and run between the hours of 7am and 4pm.

• (This role is 'job and finish' so sometimes the department may finish earlier or later, depending on the volume of orders on that particular day)
