Job summary

Grace's Bakery Ltd. in Ryde is seeking a dedicated Baker to join the team. You will work in our Morning Goods and Bread department, operating mixers, rollers, ovens, and fryers, while frying and decorating doughnuts and pastries.

Light packing and paper­work duties accompany daily production, with an emphasis on quality and consistency. The role offers 20–40 hours weekly, 3–6 days, with shifts between 12pm and 12am and a probation review.

Grace's Bakery has a fantastic opportunity to join our Ryde Bakehouse team as a Baker. If you are passionate about cakes and confectionery baking, this could be the role for you!

Key Responsibilities:

• Working within our Morning Goods and Bread department.
• Operating baking equipment/machinery such as mixers, rollers, fryer and ovens.
• Frying and decorating large quantities of doughnuts.
• Baking and decorating large quantities of pastries.
• Baking a variety of bread loaves, rolls, baguettes, baps, and doughnuts.
• Preparation of doughs and mixes.
• Measuring of ingredients according to recipes and production schedules.
• Following cooking and cooling times and temperatures
• Making products according to their specification.
• Maintaining a consistent speed and quality of production.
• Sealing, labelling and packing cake orders.
• Adapting to changes in the production workflow, such as incorporating seasonal product lines.
• Adhering to and maintaining the Bakery's quality procedures and delivering the highest possible standard of product to meet our customers’ expectations.
• Following instructions and feedback from the team leader, and working within a team to ensure deadlines are met.
• Upholding the expectations set out in the Employee Handbook and related policies.
• Adhering to an expectation of tidiness, cleanliness and personal hygiene, as set out in Company Handbook.
• Ensuring a high standard of cleanliness, food safety, hygiene and Health and Safety when working (training provided).
• Supporting with paperwork such as opening/closing checks, and ensuring compliance with Food Safety expectations.?

We are looking for someone who:

• Is passionate about food production and keen to learn new skills
• Is able to work in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail
• Is able to manage heavy lifting/moving, and is comfortable working on their feet?
• Is organised, reliable, punctual, and enthusiastic
• Has excellent communication
• Has a positive and proactive attitude
• Is able to work well in a production line, as well as independently

Hours and Pay:

• £12.71 per hour (Reviewed following completion of probation)
• 3-6 days a week (up to 6 days on occasion for holiday/sickness cover)
• 20-40 hours a week
• Any day Sunday to Friday
• Between the hours of 12pm and 12am. Actual start/finish times vary in accordance with business need and trade changes. (This role is 'job and finish' so sometimes the department may finish a bit earlier or a bit later, depending on the volume of orders on that particular day)
• Based at our Ryde Bakehouse
