Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) seeks a Cleaning Supervisor to oversee cleaning staff at a designated location and to ensure EA standards are met. The role involves hands-on cleaning, staff induction, and liaising with building managers to resolve day-to-day issues.

Applicants should demonstrate two years’ external cleaning experience and knowledge of Health and Safety at Work NI Order 1978. Training will be provided where required. An enhanced disclosure check may be required.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience of cleaning outside the home environment.
• Training may be required under Health and Safety legislation as provided by EA cleaning service.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and machinery.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organise and supervise cleaning staff while personally undertaking cleaning duties.
• Liaise with the building manager on day-to-day cleaning issues.
• Induct and train staff; provide refresher training as required.
• Investigate complaints about cleaning provision and advise the line manager.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are stocked and maintained within budget.
• Maintain records of staff attendance, holidays and absence.
• Manage keys and ensure they are returned daily.
• Prepare periodic work plans in consultation with service users.
