Job summary

Andy File Associates Limited, on behalf of our client, is seeking a Hands-On Cleaning Supervisor to support a major build-clean contract in Leeds. The role combines frontline cleaning with supervision of a small team, reporting to the Operations Manager and ensuring daily targets are met.

You will clean alongside the team, lead by example, attend daily meetings, and manage paperwork and safety on site. A Green CSCS Card and SSSTS are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial cleaning, build cleaning or a similar environment.
• Previous supervisory or team-leading experience.
• Holds a Green CSCS Card.
• Holds an SSSTS (Site Supervisors' Safety Training Scheme) certificate.

Responsibilities

• Work hands-on as part of the cleaning team and supervise daily tasks.
• Attend daily meetings to receive schedules and updates.
• Coordinate and allocate daily cleaning tasks and report progress to Operations Manager.
• Carry out regular walkabouts and checks to maintain cleaning standards.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm
Contract: Temporary – expected to run until April 2027
Potential: Further work or permanent position available for the right person

Andy File Associates are working on behalf of our client to recruit a Hands-On Cleaning Supervisor to support a major build-clean contract in Leeds.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cleaner or cleaning supervisor who enjoys being hands-on, takes pride in their work and is confident leading a team within a busy construction environment.

The Role

As Hands-On Cleaning Supervisor, you will be an integral part of the cleaning team while also taking responsibility for coordinating the day-to-day cleaning operation and reporting progress to the Operations Manager.

Cleaning is a key part of the role. You will be expected to clean alongside the team every day and lead by example. You will only step away from cleaning when attending meetings, completing site walkabouts, carrying out paperwork or taking photographs of completed work.

Key Responsibilities

• Work hands-on as part of the cleaning team, carrying out build-clean duties to a high standard.
• Supervise and coordinate the cleaning team and allocate daily tasks.
• Attend daily Black Hat meetings on behalf of our client to receive schedules, updates on works and any changes to requirements.
• Communicate relevant information from site meetings to the cleaning team.
• Carry out regular walkabouts and checks to ensure cleaning standards are being maintained.
• Complete daily and weekly paperwork and submit this to the Operations Manager.
• Take photographs of each completed apartment and floor and send these to the Operations Manager.
• Monitor progress against the cleaning schedule and ensure deadlines are achieved.
• Liaise with site management and other contractors when required.
• Ensure cleaning equipment and materials are used correctly and safely.
• Monitor stock levels and report when additional supplies are required.
• Maintain a clean, safe and professional working environment.
• Ensure all relevant health & safety procedures are followed.
• Lead by example and maintain a positive and professional attitude within the team.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience in commercial cleaning, build cleaning or a similar environment.
• Has previous supervisory or team-leading experience.
• Is genuinely hands-on and happy to clean alongside the team every day.
• Can organise and motivate a team effectively.
• Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in their work.
• Is confident communicating with site management and attending daily meetings.
• Is organised and comfortable completing paperwork and taking responsibility for site reporting.
• Is reliable, hardworking and punctual.
• Has a good understanding of construction-site health & safety.
• Holds a Green CSCS Card.
• Holds a valid SSSTS (Site Supervisors' Safety Training Scheme) certificate.
• Is comfortable working in a busy construction environment.
