Job summary

ABM is hiring for a part-time cleaning operative in Newcastle. You will work a split shift Mon-Fri 06:00-08:00 and 14:00-16:00, totaling 20 hours per week with a £13.50 per hour pay rate. Duties include cleaning desks, kitchens, toilets, and maintaining high hygiene standards while following safety rules.

Qualifications

• Experience in a cleaning, janitorial, or maintenance role would be beneficial, though not always essential
• Understanding how to use personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Must be able to follow company policies, cleaning protocols, and safety regulations.
• Ability to report any issues, communicate training needs, and provide feedback to management
• Willingness to take on other duties as assigned, supporting the team in various cleaning and maintenance tasks
• Good attention to detail
• Work to routine schedules
• Ability to work on their own and as a team

Responsibilities

• Cleaning, hoovering, mopping, desk wiping, kitchen and toilet cleaning
• Empty waste and top up consumables
• Disinfecting areas as per planner
• Dusting, wiping and disinfecting desks and surfaces
• Scrubbing kitchens and toilets
• Hoovering and mopping floors
• Disinfecting high touch points
• Follow group and company policies and procedures
• Report deficiencies or issues to line manager or incident system
• Any other duties as assigned by manager

Job description

LOCATION: Newcastle, NE27 0QJ

SHIFT PATTERN: 20 hours per week, Mon- Fri split shift – 0600-0800 and 1400-1600

PAY RATE: £13.50 per hour

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Your duties will involve cleaning, hoovering, mopping, desk wiping, kitchen, and toilet cleaning. You will empty waste and top up consumables. You must have good attention to detail and high standards of cleaning. You will be responsible for disinfecting areas as per planner.

• Dusting, wiping, and disinfecting desks and all surfaces
• Scrubbing kitchens and toilets
• Hoovering and mopping floors
• Disinfecting all high touch points
• Following group and company policies and procedures
• Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment.
• Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received.
• Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system.
• Any other duties as assigned by your manager to support the team and ensure the smooth operation of the business will be communicated to you
