Job summary

ABM UK is recruiting for a part-time cleaning operative at Gosforth Shopping Centre. The role focuses on cleaning the mall and adjacent areas, using a ride-on floor machine and routine janitorial tasks.

You will maintain high standards, follow ABM and BICSc guidelines, and work as part of a team with opportunities to contribute to improvements. The position demands excellent attendance, punctuality, and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Be clean and smart in appearance and wear the company uniform at all times.
• Ensure all cleaning duties meet BICSc standards and client expectations.
• Follow ABM health and safety procedures and take personal responsibility for safety of yourself and others.
• Suggest improvements to working practices to support continuous improvement.
• Work proactively to support/assist colleagues as needed.
• Perform ad hoc duties as directed by the team leader.

LOCATION: GOSFORTH SHOPPING CENTRE, NE3 1JZ

SHIFT PATTERN: Monday to Friday 1900-2130 Saturday 1500-2030, 18 hours per week

PAY RATE: Competitive

Your duties will involve cleaning of a Shopping Centre mall and associated areas and includes hoovering, mopping, using ride on floor machine, and toilet cleaning. You will empty waste and top up consumables. You must have good attention to detail and high standards of cleaning. You will be responsible for disinfecting areas as per planner.

Key Responsibilities

• To be clean, smart in appearance, and wear company uniform at all times so that ABM's reputation for professionalism and quality is never compromised.
• To ensure that all cleaning duties carried out are strictly in accordance with BICSc standards so that quality work is delivered fully meeting/exceeding client expectations.
• To ensure that all work undertaken is strictly carried out in accordance with ABM's Health and Safety procedures. Moreover to demonstrate their commitment to the fact that each ABM employee has a personal responsibility for their own health and safety and for that of persons who may be affected by their acts/or omissions.
• To carry out cleaning duties as directed by the team leader. Moreover to always consider the work undertaken and wherever opportunities for improvements to working practices exist, put forward suggestions so that 'continuous improvement' is the norm.
• To work in a proactive manner supporting/assisting colleagues whenever in a position to do so.
• To undertake ad hoc duties as directed/ operationally required.
