Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a dedicated Cleaning Operative for HMP Altcourse, Liverpool. The role focuses on delivering high-quality cleaning services across multiple areas within a secure environment, maintaining a welcoming and safe space for staff, visitors and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have cleaning experience, strong health and safety practices, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with organised and security-conscious mindset.

Salary: £28,447.68 per annum

We're looking for a dedicated and proactive Cleaning Operative to join our On-Site Services team at HMP Altcourse, Liverpool. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced cleaning professional who is passionate about maintaining high standards, leading by example, and delivering excellent customer service in a secure environment.

As Cleaning Operative, you will be responsible for ensuring cleaning services are delivered to the highest standards across a range of operational areas, supporting a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff, visitors, and stakeholders.

HMP Altcourse serves the courts of Merseyside and the wider North West, maintaining strong community links with a clear focus on rehabilitation and resettlement. We provide high‑quality services that support individuals to make positive changes, offering a wide range of education, training and work opportunities to help residents develop practical, work‑ready skills. Our commitment to reducing reoffending continues beyond custody through community partnerships that support people on release. The prison includes multiple residential units, a healthcare centre, gym, library, workshops, visits hall, chaplaincy and kitchen.
