Job summary

Independents by Sodexo is seeking a proactive Cleaning Manager to lead on-site cleaning operations at Edinburgh Academy Senior and Junior Schools. You’ll manage a large team, monitor standards, plan rotas and drive safety and compliance across both sites.

This permanent, full-time role offers a salary of £38,500 to £41,000 plus an operational bonus, 40-hour weeks with afternoon/evening shifts and occasional weekend work.

Edinburgh Academy Senior & Junior Schools (Multi-site role)

Salary: £38,500 to £41,000 per annum + operational bonus

Hours: Full-time 40 hours per week

Shifts: Monday to Friday (some weekend working business dependent)

Working Pattern: This role is primarily based around

afternoon and evening working, in line with the operational requirements of the cleaning service. Typical shifts include

11.30am-8pm, 12.30-9pm, 10.00-18.30pm, with occasional shifts such as 7am to 3.30pmto support the wider operation. The cleaning team you will manage primarily work

4-9pm.

Contract Type: Permanent

:Monday to Friday working pattern with occasional weekend, Free lunch on site, Christmas and New Year off

Driving licence and own car essential - free onsite parking included

What you'll do:

• Be visible across site daily, monitoring standards, coaching colleagues and supporting operations where needed
• Plan rotas, manage staffing levels, absence and annual leave
• Lead recruitment, onboarding and ongoing training for the cleaning team
• Conduct audits, inspections and risk assessments to ensure compliance and continuous improvement
• Manage cleaning schedules and workforce management systems
• Maintain strong relationships with the client and key stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, COSHH and company standards
• Manage cleaning supplies and budgets effectively

What we're looking for:

• Previous experience managing large cleaning teams
• Strong people leadership and performance management skills
• Experience working in a standards-driven or compliance-focused environment
• Knowledge of health & safety and COSHH regulations
• Experience conducting audits and risk assessments
• Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills
• The ability to prioritise workloads and deploy resources effectively
• Facilities Management or contract management experience
• IOSH, NEBOSH or FM-related qualifications
• Experience working with audit and compliance systems
