Job summary

ALS Laboratories (UK) Ltd in Coventry is seeking a Cleaner/Recycling Technician to maintain a clean, safe environment across premises and support the processing of lab samples, glassware and recycling waste.

The role runs 37 hours per week (Mon-Thu 08:00-16:00, Fri 08:00-15:30) on a full-time, permanent basis with a salary of £25,877.80 per year. Close date: 17 September 2026. You will work as part of a small team under the Hiring Manager, Christopher Watkins.

Qualifications

  • An understanding of the correct use of appropriate cleaning products.
  • Knowledge of colour-coded cleaning equipment and its use in different work areas.
  • A clear understanding of Health & Safety requirements and their implications within a laboratory and office environment.
  • A reliable, thorough and conscientious approach to work.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Cleaning floors daily and maintaining a hygienic environment.
  • Cleaning toilets and restrooms; completing cleaning checklists.
  • Emptying office and laboratory bins and disposing waste.

Cleaner/Recycling Technician

We are looking for a reliable and conscientious Cleaner/Recycling Technician to join our team. Working collaboratively as part of a small team, you will help maintain a clean, safe and hygienic environment across the ALS premises, while also supporting the efficient processing of laboratory samples, glassware and recyclable waste.

About the Position

Hours Per Week: 37
Days Per Week: Monday to Thursday (08:00 - 16:00) and Friday (08:00 - 15:30)
Basis: Full Time & Permanent
Annual Salary: £25,877.80

The Day to Day
  • Working collaboratively as part of a small team responsible for cleaning the ALS premises.
  • Sweeping and mopping floors daily, polishing and/or buffing floors where required.
  • Checking toilet facilities twice daily, cleaning them as required and completing cleaning checklists after each session.
  • Emptying office and laboratory bins daily and disposing of refuse appropriately for collection.
  • Vacuuming carpets as required and removing spots and marks using appropriate cleaning products and equipment.
  • Cleaning internal windows on a quarterly rotational basis.
  • Cleaning the canteen daily to maintain a hygienic environment.
  • Ensuring all cleaning equipment and products are stored neatly in the designated cupboards on each floor.
  • Adhering to Health & Safety risk assessments at all times when carrying out duties.
  • Rotating sample bottles and disposing of bottles after analysis.
  • Ensuring the workstation and working environment are always clean and tidy.
  • Washing glassware.
  • Processing return samples.
  • Processing waste for recycling or disposal.
  • Monitoring and ensuring that all site recycling streams are followed.
  • Compactting and baling recycling as required.
  • Liaising with third-party waste and recycling contractors as required.
