Job summary

Shotton Primary School is seeking a reliable cleaner to join an existing team. The role involves maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across designated areas, working alone or with others as required.

Shifts total 10.5 hours per week (6:00am-8:06am or 3:30pm-5:36pm, Monday to Friday). DBS disclosure is required; training will be provided. Applicants should be flexible to cover all areas including the annex building.

Qualifications

  • Experience in cleaning in a school environment may be advantageous.
  • Be flexible to work in all areas of the school, including annex building.
  • Be willing to undertake appropriate training.

Responsibilities

  • To ensure all waste bins are emptied and refuse is removed and taken to the designated disposal point.
  • To ensure that the site is clean and tidy and meets health and safety requirements.
  • To clean all furniture and fittings including ledges, pipe work and radiators, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are met and maintained.
  • To clean all sanitary fixtures and fittings including the lavatories, washroom facilities and showers, ensuring areas are maintained to health and safety standards and reporting issues.
  • Carry out vacuuming in all carpeted areas and manage equipment.
  • Clean floor areas (sweeping, mopping, polishing) with wet floor safety signs when required.
  • To use floor scrubbing machines and other machinery following safe procedures.
  • Assist in the whole school deep clean during school closure as per cleaning programme.
  • Check windows and doors are secure after cleaning.

The Governors are seeking to appoint a reliable, enthusiastic and hardworking cleaner, to be part of an existing team working in Shotton Primary School.

The successful candidate will be required to be flexible and be prepared to work in all areas of the school, including our annex building. We are seeking to appoint someone who can contribute to ensuring that we can maintain the highest possible standards of cleanliness. The successful candidate will be able to work individually, or as part of a team, to undertake the cleaning of a designated area and ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are met and maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • To ensure all waste bins are emptied and refuse is removed and taken to the designated disposal point.
  • To ensure that the site is clean and tidy and meets with health and safety requirements.
  • To clean all furniture and fittings including ledges, pipe work and radiators, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are met and maintained.
  • To clean all sanitary fixtures and fittings including the lavatories, washroom facilities and showers etc., ensuring all areas are maintained to the required standards of health and safety, reporting any damaged or broken facilities, or other maintenance issues to the appropriate member of staff.
  • Carry out vacuuming in all carpeted areas ensuring correct use, carrying and storage of equipment.
  • Clean all other floor areas appropriately, i.e. sweeping, mopping, polishing etc., ensuring wet floor health and safety hazard signs are used when required to ensure wellbeing of staff/pupils is maintained.
  • To use floor scrubbing machines and other appropriate machinery when required, following correct operating procedures to ensure personal and others’ safety and wellbeing.
  • To assist in the whole school deep clean during school closure as per the school cleaning programme.
  • To check windows and doors are free from damage and closed after cleaning has been carried out to ensure the facilities are locked and secured appropriately.
  • Be willing to undertake appropriate training.
