Job summary

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Assistant Technical Officer to supervise the Clean Room in the Pharmacy Sterile Production Unit. The role focuses on aseptic dispensing, quality control and staff training within a busy NHS setting.

The position is Band 4 with a 37.5-hour week, offering permanent, full/part-time and flexible working arrangements where feasible, and a pro rata salary of £28,392–£31,157 per annum. Closing date 9 November 2026.

Qualifications

• HNC or BTEC in Applied Science or Food Science & Technology (or equivalent).
• NVQ 2/3 Pharmacy Services (or equivalent).
• NHS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise aseptic preparation and dispensing in clean rooms.
• Generate worksheets, labels, assemble, prepare and dispense aseptic medicines.
• Ensure safe use of equipment and adherence to SOPs.
• Record and monitor clean room environments and equipment; report faults.
• In-process checking of dose units for parenteral nutrition and cytotoxic medicines.
• Ensure compliance with quality systems and legislation.
• Assist in staff training and development.
• Contribute to new ways of working and policy updates.
