Job summary

The Best Connection is recruiting for HGV C+E drivers to join the Newton Aycliffe depot on an immediate-start basis. Roles include 10 runs per shift with fixed routes across the North East and manual handling of parcels at depots and customer locations.

Candidates must hold a valid UK licence, Driver CPC, and Tachograph Card, with a minimum of 6 months Class 1 experience. Weekly patterns are Monday to Friday with paid inductions and potential for permanent contracts.

• Valid Driver CPC qualification required for off-site/on-site driving.
• Valid Driver Digital Tachograph Card must be used when driving.
• Minimum 6 months' experience driving Class 1 vehicles.

• Manual handling with loading/unloading at depot and customer sites.

HGV C+E (LGV Class One) Drivers - Newton Aycliffe Depot

Start of the assignment: Immediately!

The Best Connection are working closely with our client to recruit Class 1 HGV C+E drivers to build on the existing team at their new Newton Aycliffe depot.

Drive the best tech and modern fleet with my client and be part of a industry leader focused on being the best in the industry.

Paid inductions are taking place on Tuesday 1st of September 2026 at 08:00am.

These are immediate-start positions, with opportunities for temporary-to-permanent employment. Successful drivers are guaranteed a permanent contract within 14 weeks.

The role includes:

• Collections and deliveries.
• An average of approximately 10 runs per shift.
• Same set route each day across the North east Regions.
• Manual handling is heavily involved, with drivers assisting with loading and unloading parcels at the depot and customer locations.
• Drivers will also use devices and company software to update delivery statuses and communicate with the depot.

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday

Rate of Pay: £19.08ph

Rate of pay: Overtime: £27.76ph

Over time available after 40 working hours - during peak times which are set for Mid November - end of January.

Driver requirements:

• Valid UK driving licence.
• Valid Driver CPC, regardless of whether driving on or off site.
• Valid Driver Digital Tachograph Card, which must be used at all times when driving, both on and off site.
• Minimum of 6 months' experience driving Class 1 vehicles.
