Since our humble beginning back in the 1960s, Hilton Haulage has been keeping the wheels turning from Invercargill to Auckland. Today, our 500+ strong team operates a range of units working hard to exceed our customers’ expectations and provide total transport solutions.

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Class 5 driver at our Timaru site.

We are the largest bulk transportation provider in the South Island, with a modern fleet of over 70 trucks permitted up to 60 tonnes. We aim to exceed our customers’ expectations and provide comprehensive transport solutions so they can focus on their core businesses. The roster typically involves Monday – Friday dayshift, with some nightshift and weekend work as required. Flexibility is necessary to meet business and seasonal needs.

Duties

Day-to-day tasks include:

• Representing Hilton Haulage professionally to promote and maintain a positive company image.
• Complying with all health & safety rules, policies, procedures, and directions from the Employer and/or customer. Health & Safety inductions are required for all customer sites.
• Participating as a member of the driving team by completing assigned work and assisting other drivers as needed. This includes attending Toolbox meetings, conducting pre-start inspections, and maintaining your vehicle to a high standard.
• Driving carefully and defensively to ensure safety for yourself and others, considering factors such as weight limits, hazardous materials regulations, weather, and traffic conditions.
• Having fun!

Skills and experience

Applicants should have:

• At least 2 years’ experience in a Class 5 driving role.
• Strong geographical knowledge of the South Island.
• Experience going above and beyond for customers, with examples to share.
• Experience working within a team, with a description of your favourite team experience.
• The ability to learn new technology, with an example of a time you adapted to something new.
