Job summary

An automotive logistics company seeks a Class 1 or 2 driver to manage the collection and delivery of luxury vehicles. This role requires a full Category C HGV license and Driver CPC, as well as strong communication skills and meticulous attention to detail. The driver will work across the UK and occasionally in mainland Europe, needing a flexible schedule and the ability to lift up to 30kg safely.

Qualifications

  • Flexible approach to working hours and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Experience driving in Europe is desirable.

Job description

We are looking for a Class 1 or 2 driver, preferably with transporter / vehicle delivery experience, to collect and deliver our luxury bespoke vehicles from across the UK, and in some instances main land Europe, utilising our own Class 2 rigid twin deck transporter. As with most long distance deliveries there will be some tramping involved, however hotel accommodation will be provided.

If there are no collection or deliveries utilising the transporter, then you will asked to assist in other areas of the business, relating to driving and transportation.

Transportation Operations

  • Ensure the safe transportation of stock vehicles between Leeds, Manchester, and London showrooms.

  • Oversee the delivery and collection of customer vehicles to and from showrooms and customer destinations.

  • Manage the collection and delivery of parts using company vans.

  • Perform occasional chauffeur duties for the Chairman and Senior Management Team.

  • Implement and enforce safe driving procedures in accordance with the Highway Code and company policies.

  • Maintain awareness of company insurance stipulations regarding vehicle transportation.

Planning and Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain a company transportation schedule to meet operational demands.

  • Coordinate with internal departments to resolve booking conflicts.

  • Plan efficient and alternative routes for timely deliveries, considering road closures, traffic, and other variables.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Stay updated on DVSA legislation and ensure compliance with operator regulations.

  • Address any driving infringements, record incidents, and arrange remedial training as necessary.

Internal and External Communication

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including After-Sales, Marketing, and Sales Administration, to coordinate vehicle movements and customer interactions.

  • Maintain effective communication with customers and suppliers regarding schedules, vehicle conditions, and work progress.

  • Complete and manage vehicle appraisal forms and other necessary documentation.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Category C HGV license and Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).

  • Thorough understanding of the EU Working Time Directive and DVSA Operator Regulations.

  • Working knowledge of the UK road network; experience driving in Europe is desirable.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems.

  • Ability to safely lift up to 30kg; manual handling training is desirable.

  • Exceptional attention to detail for vehicle appraisals and quality control.

  • Flexible approach to working hours.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

  • Presentable and professional demeanour.

  • Full, clean UK driving license.
