Job summary

Smart Solutions in Lincoln is recruiting a Class 2 Flatbed / Skip Driver to join our busy depot. The role involves delivering and collecting bins across Lincolnshire, with a 5:30am start and a typical 5:30am–3:00pm day, five days a week.

You will drive a Class 2 vehicle, perform daily checks and log collections using mobile tech. The ideal candidate holds a valid Class 2 licence with CPC and Tachograph card, has good English, and can work independently while keeping high safety standards.

Qualifications

• Requires valid Class 2 (Category C) licence with CPC and Tachograph card.
• Good knowledge of Lincolnshire and surrounding areas.
• Strong command of English, both spoken and written.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility for early start and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Drive a Class 2 flatbed or skip vehicle across Lincolnshire.
• Carry out scheduled collections and deliveries of bins.
• Load/unload and handle bins, including heavy lifting.
• Frequent vehicle entries/exits, up to ~30 times daily.
• Perform daily vehicle checks and ensure safe operation.
• Log collections using mobile tech and systems.
• Work independently while maintaining service standards.
• Attend overtime when required.

Class 2 Flatbed / Skip Driver

Location: Lincoln, LN5
Pay Rate: £16.34 per hour
Hours: 5:30am – 3:00pm, Monday to Friday
Overtime: Additional overtime may be required
Licence: Class 2, valid CPC and Tacho required

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Class 2 Flatbed / Skip Driver to join our team based in Lincoln.

The role involves driving a flatbed or skip vehicle throughout Lincolnshire, carrying out collections and deliveries of bins. This is an active role involving regular manual handling and frequent getting in and out of the vehicle.

You will be working independently for much of the day, so a strong work ethic, positive attitude and ability to work without direct supervision are essential.

Key Duties

• Driving a Class 2 flatbed or skip vehicle throughout Lincolnshire
• Carrying out scheduled collections and deliveries of bins
• Loading, unloading and handling bins, including some heavy lifting
• Getting in and out of the vehicle frequently, potentially up to 30 times per day
• Completing daily vehicle checks and ensuring the vehicle is operated safely
• Using technology and relevant systems to record and manage collections and deliveries
• Working independently while maintaining high standards of service
• Following health and safety procedures at all times
• Supporting with overtime when required

Essential Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have:

• A valid Class 2 (Category C) driving licence
• Valid Driver CPC
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card
• Good knowledge of Lincolnshire and the surrounding areas
• Good spoken and written English
• The ability to use mobile technology and electronic systems
• A reliable and punctual approach to work
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A flexible approach to working hours and overtime
• The ability to start work early and be ready for a 5:30am start
• A willingness to carry out physically demanding work
