Job summary

Marlborough Highways is seeking Class 2 Drivers to support our Winter Maintenance, working on Zero Hour Contracts. This field-based role requires reliable, safety-conscious drivers to operate across depots within the group.

You will complete daily vehicle checks, log defects, and ensure loads are secure, with responsibilities including tachograph handling, gritting calibration, and maintaining vehicle conditions. Part-time hours and zero hour contracts offer flexible, seasonal work.

Responsibilities

• Complete all daily vehicle checks and log defects in the Vehicle Defect Book.
• Report all defects including tyre issues to Transport Manager.
• Complete gritting records and calibrate rates on the vehicle.
• Grease vehicle as necessary and ensure fuel is filled on return to yard.
• Present Tachograph card for weekly download.
• Ensure goods are safely secured and vehicle is kept clean.
• Load/unload following Safe Working Procedures and Risk Assessments.
• Work from other depots and operate other vehicles when required.
• Report accidents/incidents immediately and follow policies.

Key Responsibilities

Complete all daily vehicle checks and fill out Vehicle Defect Book at the start of shift and end of shift

Report all defects including tyre issues to Transport Manager

Completion of gritting records

Setting calibration rates for gritting on vehicle

Grease vehicle as necessary

Fill vehicles with fuel on return to yard at end of the day

Present Tachograph card for downloading on a weekly basis

Ensure all goods are safely secured

Ensure your vehicle is kept in a good, clean condition

Load and unload the vehicle adhering to Safe Working Procedures and Risk Assessments

Work from other depots within the group and operate other vehicles when required

Report all accidents and incidents immediately and obtain details as required

Comply with all Health, Safety, HR and Environmental policies and procedures
