Job summary

Blue Arrow is recruiting a Driver Loader (HGV Class 2) for council depots across Cardiff. The role is temporary/ongoing with potential for permanent opportunities, with early starts and shifts Tue–Fri. Benefits include weekly pay and PPE provided.

You will operate refuse collection vehicles, support waste collection, and join a reliable team delivering essential environmental services. Key requirements: valid HGV Class 2 licence, Driver CPC, Tachograph card, and prior experience in refuse/HGV

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 2 Licence.
• Current Driver CPC Qualification Card.
• Digital Tachograph Card.
• Experience driving refuse collection vehicles or similar HGV preferred.
• Good understanding of health and safety practices.
• Physically fit and able to undertake manual handling duties.
• Reliable and punctual, works well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate HGV Class 2 refuse collection vehicles.
• Assist loaders to collect household waste and recycling.
• Carry out daily vehicle inspections and report defects.
• Follow planned collection routes and schedules.
• Adhere to health and safety procedures.
• Provide a professional, courteous service to the public.

Salary: £14.59 - £21.89 per hour

Driver Loader Required

Our client, a well-established Local Authority, is seeking experienced and reliable Driver Loaders to join their Waste and Recycling Operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking for stable, ongoing work with a respected public sector organisation.

As a Driver Loader, you will be responsible for operating refuse collection vehicles and supporting waste collection services across the borough. You will play a key role in delivering essential environmental services to local communities.

Key Duties

• Driving and operating HGV Class 2 refuse collection vehicles.
• Working alongside a team of loaders to collect household waste and recycling.
• Conducting daily vehicle inspections and reporting any defects.
• Following planned collection routes and schedules.
• Ensuring compliance with all health and safety procedures.
• Providing a professional and courteous service to members of the public.
• Assisting with loading duties when required.

Candidate Requirements

• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence.
• Current Driver CPC Qualification Card.
• Digital Tachograph Card.
• Previous experience driving refuse collection vehicles or similar HGV vehicles preferred.
• Good understanding of health and safety practices.
• Physically fit and able to undertake manual handling duties.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
