Job summary

Driver Hire are recruiting experienced Class 2 (Cat C) Drivers in Edinburgh to provide ad hoc holiday, sickness and peak-period cover for a leading home delivery and retail logistics operation.

As a Class 2 Driver you will deliver home improvement products to residential customers, assisted by a Driver's Mate. The role involves heavy lifting, safety-focused driving and meeting high service standards.

You will work flexible shifts with weekly pay and clear safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid Class 2 (Category C) licence for at least 24 months.
• Continuous commercial driving experience throughout that period.
• No driving/employment gaps within the last 6 months.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are currently recruiting experienced Class 2 (Category C) Drivers to provide ad hoc holiday, sickness and peak-period cover for a leading home delivery and retail logistics operation.

This is an excellent opportunity for professional drivers looking for flexible work with a well-established national transport provider.

The Role

As a Class 2 Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of home improvement products to residential customers. You will be accompanied by a Driver’s Mate to assist with deliveries; however, the role involves a significant amount of heavy lifting and manual handling.

Duties include:

• Vehicle checks and compliance paperwork
• Safe loading and unloading of products
• Working closely with your Driver’s Mate to complete deliveries efficiently
• Maintaining high safety and driving standards at all times

To be considered, applicants must:

• Hold a valid Class 2 (Category C) licence for a minimum of 24 months
• Have continuous commercial driving experience throughout that period
• Have no more than one employment/driving gap of up to 3 months within the last 24 months
• Have no driving/employment gaps within the last 6 months
• Hold a valid CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
• Be comfortable with heavy lifting and physically demanding work
• Have a professional and customer-focused attitude

Pay Rates

PAYE

• £15.95 per hour – Basic Rate
• £23.93 per hour – After 8 hours & Saturdays
• £31.91 per hour – Sundays & Bank Holidays

PAYE Advanced

• £17.88 per hour – Basic Rate
• £26.81 per hour – After 8 hours & Saturdays
• £35.76 per hour – Sundays & Bank Holidays
