Job summary

PW Gates Distribution Ltd is hiring a Class 2 Driver for day-time operations at Welwyn Garden City. The role covers multi-drop pallet distribution and general haulage using curtain-sided vehicles with tail-lift capabilities. A full HGV Class 2 licence and CPC are essential, with a focus on safety, accuracy, and professional customer service. Shift pattern is Monday–Friday, 47.5 hours per week.

Do you enjoy being out on the road, managing your deliveries independently, and ensuring everything arrives on time? PW Gates is seeking a skilled Class 2 Driver to join our day-time operations at Welwyn Garden City – Bridge Road Site.

Role Overview

As a Class 2 (C) Driver, you’ll be responsible for both multi-drop pallet distribution and full-load general haulage. Operating curtain-sided and tail-lift vehicles, you’ll ensure that all goods are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This role is ideal for drivers who take pride in accuracy, load security, and providing excellent service.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out multi-drop pallet distribution and full-load general haulage.
• Operate curtain-sided and tail-lift vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Secure loads correctly using straps and other load restraint methods.
• Perform daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly.
• Maintain accurate records using a digital tachograph and comply with drivers’ hours regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service and represent PW Gates professionally at delivery sites.
• Full HGV Class 2 (C) Driving Licence.
• Valid Driver CPC and digital tachograph card.
• Maximum of 6 penalty points (no IN or DR codes).
• Experience operating curtain-sided vehicles and using tail lifts.
• Experience securing loads safely with straps and restraints.
• Professional, reliable, and safety-focused approach to work

It would be an advantage if candidates also have:

• Previous night trunking or long-distance driving experience.
• Familiarity with PDA’s (Personal Digital Assistant Scanner’s) and vehicle telematics systems.
• Experience handling paperwork such as delivery notes, manifests and PODs.
• A strong geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing routes, schedules, or operational needs.
• A positive attitude and commitment to high customer service standards.
• Previous experience in palletised distribution or general haulage.
• Experience with timed or multi-drop deliveries.
