Job summary

Driver Hire Darlington is currently recruiting for a Class 1 Tramper Driver in the Darlington area. This is a long-term opportunity with the potential to secure a permanent contract after a successful temporary period.

You will perform long-distance heavy haulage across the UK, with overnight stays in the vehicle, and loads will include oversized or specialist cargo. Induction and training are provided, with a modern, well-maintained fleet and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 (C+E) licence.
• Valid CPC qualification.
• Digital Tachograph Card.
• Experience in Class 1 driving is preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Long-distance heavy haulage across the UK.

The Role for a Class 1 Tramper Driver

• Long-distance heavy haulage operations across the UK
• Tramping throughout the week with overnight stays in the vehicle
• Transporting oversized and specialist loads
• Ensuring all loads are secured safely and transported in line with company procedures
• Completing vehicle checks and relevant transport documentation
• Maintaining high standards of professionalism and customer service

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

• Valid Class 1 (C+E) licence
• Valid CPC qualification

• Previous Class 1 driving experience, the client is open to new passes
• A flexible approach to tramping and nights away from home
• Excellent understanding of Drivers' Hours and Working Time Regulations
• A professional and safety-focused attitude

Desirable

• Previous heavy haulage experience (preferred but not essential as training can be provided)
• Experience securing abnormal or specialist loads
