Job summary

Gi Group is recruiting for a Class 1 Night Shunter at Marston Gate (MK43 0UL). This ongoing temporary role starts at 19:00 Monday to Friday with weekend options, offering stability in a 24/7 operation.

You will move HGV trailers, perform vehicle checks, and ensure compliance with WTD and driving hours. Valid UK Driver Cards and a Class 1 licence are required, with weekend availability essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold valid UK Driver cards (Licence, CPC and Digi Card).
• Minimum 6 months Class 1 licence + 6 months Class 1 driving experience.
• Max 6 penalty points (no DR or DD offences).
• Weekend availability essential for 24/7 operation.
• Previous store delivery experience preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Move HGV trailers around depot or between sites.
• Conduct vehicle checks and maintain tachograph records.
• Drive in line with client standards, with training provided on day one.
• Manage Working Time Directive and Driving Hours to stay compliant.
• Represent the brand professionally when arriving at stores.

Class 1 Night Shunter - Immediate Start

Contract: Ongoing Temporary (Year-round stability)

Earnings: From £23.53 ph - £28.01 ph

Class 1 Driver Opportunity

Join Gi Group supporting our client based in Marston Gate, as a Class 1 Shunter.

This isn't just seasonal help; we are looking for professional shunter for ongoing position!

Role & Responsibilities

• Moving heavy goods vehicle (HGV) trailers around a depot yard or between local companies
• Conducting thorough vehicle checks and maintaining accurate digital tachograph records.
• Drivers must drive as per clients professional standards which you will be coached and trained on your first day
• Ability to manage your Working Time Directive, and Driving Hours rules and Regulations in order to meet compliance expectations, and avoid infringement
• Acting as a professional face of the brand when arriving at stores

Monday to Friday start 19:00; Ongoing & Full Time Opportunity

Pay Rates - Please note the below includes your advanced holiday pay

• Monday to Friday Day Shift : £22.41ph
• Monday to Friday Night Shift : £23.53ph
• Weekend / BH : £24.65ph - £28.01ph

Class 1 Driver Requirements

• Valid UK Driver Cards (Driving Licence, CPC and DIGI Cards)
• Minimum 6 months Class 1 licence + 6 months Class 1 driving experience
• Previous experience in store deliveries would be preferred, but is not essential
• Max 6 penalty points accepted for minor offences (no DR or DD offences)
• Availability to work weekends is essential for this 24/7 operation
• Will have the ability to demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills, as well as an attention to detail
