Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is seeking a Low Loader Driver (Class 1, HGV) in Saffron Walden to safely transport heavy machinery between sites. You will be a face of the business, building positive relationships with customers and adhering to DVSA regulations.

The role offers a Monday to Friday schedule, a modern fleet, and opportunities for training and development within a growing waste management and plant hire group.

Qualifications

• Full UK Class 1 (C+E) driving licence is required.
• Valid Driver CPC and a Digital Tachograph Card are essential.
• Experience operating Low Loader vehicles is essential.
• Experience transporting plant machinery or heavy equipment is desirable.
• Good understanding of Driver Hours Regulations and transport legislation.
• Knowledge of safe loading and load restraint procedures.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Safely operating a Class 1 Low Loader in line with DVSA regulations and company procedures.
• Transporting plant machinery, specialist equipment and heavy vehicles between sites.
• Loading/unloading machinery safely using ramps and securing loads.
• Carrying out daily vehicle walk-round checks and reporting defects.
• Planning routes to ensure safe, on-time deliveries and collections.
• Maintaining communication with the transport team and updating on progress or delays.
• Keeping the vehicle clean and well-presented.
