Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is seeking a Low Loader Driver (Class 1) based in Saffron Walden to transport heavy machinery between customer sites and company locations. You will operate a Low Loader in compliance with DVSA regulations, loading and securing equipment with ramps and restraints.

The role requires a full UK Class 1 (C+E) licence, Driver CPC, and experience moving plant machinery. This is a Monday–Friday position with overtime opportunities and a modern fleet, offering training and

Qualifications

• Full UK Class 1 (C+E) licence and valid CPC.
• Experience operating Low Loader vehicles.
• Knowledge of UK road network and driver hours regulations.
• Understanding of load restraint procedures.
• Willingness to be on site Mon-Fri.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Class 1 Low Loader in line with DVSA rules.
• Transport plant machinery between customer sites and company locations.
• Load and secure machinery using ramps and restraints.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects.
• Plan routes and communicate progress or delays to transport team.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Low Loader Driver, Class 1, HGV Class 1 : heavy machinery, haulage, transport

Every day will be different, but your responsibilities will include:

• A Safely operating a Class 1 (Category C+E) Low Loader in line with DVSA regulations and company procedures.
• A Transporting plant machinery, specialist equipment and heavy vehicles between customer sites and company locations.
• A Loading and unloading machinery safely using loading ramps and ensuring all equipment is securely restrained before transport.
• A Carrying out daily vehicle walk:round checks and reporting any defects promptly.
• A Planning routes to ensure deliveries and collections are completed safely and on time.
• A Keeping in regular contact with our transport team, providing updates on progress or any delays.
• A Maintaining high standards of vehicle cleanliness and presentation.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: Low Loader Driver, Class 1, HGV Class 1 : heavy machinery, haulage, transport

Were looking for someone who is dependable, safety:conscious and takes genuine pride in their work.

Youll Have

• A A full UK Class 1 (Category C+E) Driving Licence.
• A A valid Driver CPC.
• A A Digital Tachograph Card.
• A Previous experience operating Low Loader vehicles.
• A Experience transporting plant machinery or heavy equipment.
• A A good understanding of Driver Hours Regulations and transport legislation.
• A Knowledge of safe loading and load restraint procedures.
• A Flexibility when operational requirements change.

It would be great if you also have

• A Experience within the waste management, recycling or construction industries.
• A Experience operating plant machinery.
• A HIAB or other plant:related qualifications.
• A Good geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
