Job summary

The Best Connection is recruiting for Class 1 HGV Drivers in Chessington. This temp-to-perm opportunity requires reliable, professional drivers to move goods between distribution hubs and customer sites, with early starts and steady daytime finishes on weekdays.

You will work Monday to Friday with every other Saturday, earning £19.00 per hour on weekdays and £28.50 on weekends. Full training is provided and there is potential for permanent placement within a well-established logistics group.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid UK Class 1 (C+E) licence.
• Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Good understanding of driver hours and regulations.
• Reliable and safety-conscious with previous driving experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver products to distribution hubs and customers safely and on time.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks.
• Comply with tachograph regulations.
• Complete delivery paperwork accurately.
• Load/unload using tail lifts and manage basic handling.

We are currently recruiting Class 1 HGV Drivers for a leading organisation within the Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain sector based in Chessington. This is an excellent temp-to-perm opportunity for reliable and professional Class 1 HGV Drivers looking for long-term, stable employment.

The Role

Working as a Class 1 HGV Driver, you will be responsible for completing scheduled deliveries between distribution hubs and customer locations while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service.

Key Duties

• Deliver products accurately and efficiently in line with company procedures.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks including lights, tyres, brakes, and fluid levels.
• Comply with all road traffic laws and tachograph regulations.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, delays, or breakdowns promptly.
• Complete all delivery paperwork accurately.
• Load and unload vehicles using tail lifts, with some manual handling required.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and security at all times.
• Liaise effectively with transport and operations teams.

Shift Pattern

• Monday to Friday
• Every other Saturday required
• 05:00 start time
• Approximate finish time of 16:00
• Occasional night cover may be required to support annual leave

Requirements

• Full UK Class 1 (Category C+E) Licence
• Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
• Strong communication and customer service skills

• Previous driving experience preferred
