DFDS is seeking an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver based in Felixstowe to help keep UK supply chains moving. You will drive modern curtainsiders, conduct daily checks, and deliver across the UK with a strong focus on safety and customer service.

The role requires a Full Class 1 (C+E) licence with a DIGI card and CPC. Fridge/trailer experience is a bonus, and you should be comfortable working independently in urban settings and adhering to drivers’ hours regulations.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Full Class 1 (C+E) licence with a valid DIGI card and CPC card.
• Fridge trailer or curtainsider experience is a bonus.
• Capable of working independently with strong customer service focus.
• Good understanding of UK driving rules and road safety, and time management.

Responsabilités

• Safely operating Class 1 vehicles and carrying out deliveries and collections across the UK.
• Transporting ambient goods using curtainsider trailers and securing loads correctly.
• Completing multi-drop deliveries while maintaining high levels of customer service.
• Carrying out daily vehicle and trailer checks and reporting defects promptly.
• Ensuring transport documentation is completed accurately and on time.
• Complying with Drivers’ Hours regulations and Working Time Directive requirements.
• Maintaining tachograph records and representing DFDS professionally at sites.
• Supporting the wider transport operation to meet service levels and delivery schedules.

About The Role

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, you'll be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods using our modern fleet and well-maintained trailers. Based in Felixstowe, you'll play a key role in ensuring deliveries are completed on time while providing excellent customer service and maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance. You'll be joining a business that values its drivers and provides the support, equipment, and resources needed to help you succeed.

• Safely operating Class 1 vehicles and carrying out deliveries and collections across the UK.
• Transporting ambient goods using curtainsider trailers, ensuring all loads are secured correctly.
• Completing multi-drop deliveries while maintaining high levels of customer service.
• Conducting daily vehicle and trailer checks, reporting any defects promptly.
• Ensuring all transport documentation is completed accurately and on time.
• Complying with Drivers’ Hours regulations, Working Time Directive requirements, and all relevant road transport legislation.
• Maintaining accurate records and keeping tachograph information up to date.
• Representing DFDS professionally at customer sites and on the road.
• Supporting the wider transport operation to ensure service levels and delivery schedules are achieved.

About You

You’ll thrive in this role if you’ve got a Full Class 1 (Category C+E) licence, a valid DIGI card, and a CPC card. Experience with fridge trailers or curtainsiders is a bonus, but if you’re confident, safety-focused, and ready to learn, we’ll support you. You’re someone who works well independently, communicates clearly, and takes pride in delivering excellent service.

The fridge work involves a lot of city driving, especially in busy areas, so you’ll need to be confident handling a truck in tight urban spaces. A good understanding of UK driving rules and road safety is important, along with being able to manage your time and work independently.
