Perfect Placement is recruiting on behalf of a prominent Southwest commercial vehicle dealer group for a Class 1 HGV Driver / Yard Operative based in Gloucester and Swindon. The role combines driving with yard duties to keep depots running smoothly.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Safely operating commercial vehicles to collect customer vehicles from various sites and present them for MOT.
• Conducting road tests after repairs and reporting findings to Workshop Manager.
• Carrying out pre- and post-trip checks and reporting mechanical issues.
• Parking vehicles safely in designated areas at all times.
• Loading and unloading goods with care and ensuring items are secure during transit.
• Assisting with workshop operations and maintaining a tidy yard.

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a prominent franchise-approved commercial vehicle dealer group with multiple centres across the Southwest region, for the position of Class 1 HGV Driver / Yard Operative.

The successful Class 1 HGV Driver will join their team at their Gloucester and Swindon locations.

Duties as a Class 1 HGV Driver/ Yard Operative

• Safely operating commercial vehicles to collect customer vehicles from various sites and present them for MOT
• Conducting road tests following workshop repairs, reporting findings to the Workshop Manager
• Carrying out pre- and post-trip vehicle checks, reporting any mechanical issues promptly
• Parking vehicles safely and in designated areas at all times
• Loading and unloading goods with care, ensuring items are secured during transit
• Assisting with workshop operations and maintaining a clean, organised yard environment
• Performing general housekeeping tasks in the yard to promote a safe working space
• Maintaining internal and external building and yard areas
• Covering other locations across the region when required, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork

Requirements

• Class 1 HGV driving licence with minimal points
• Comfortable travelling between Gloucester and Swindon regions
• Previous experience in a collection/delivery role or working with vehicles is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided
• Organized, logistically minded, and a good team player
• Presentable with excellent planning skills
• Knowledge of the South West region is advantageous
