Job summary

Gi Group is recruiting for a Class 1 Weekend Driver to support one of the UK's biggest supermarkets, based in Bedford. You will deliver chilled and frozen loads to stores and petrol stations across the region, driving Class 1 (and sometimes Class 2) vehicles, with training and coaching provided.

This role offers weekend shifts, ongoing temporary contract, with automatic pay rises at 12 and 27 weeks, and double pay on bank holidays. Full compliance and professional standards are required.

Qualifications

• Valid UK Driver Cards (Driving Licence, CPC and DIGI Cards).
• Minimum 12 months Class 1 licence + 12 months Class 1 driving experience.
• Availability to work weekends is essential for this 24/7 operation.
• Max 6 penalty points accepted for minor offences (no DR or DD offences).
• Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills, as well as attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Deliver chilled & frozen loads to stores and petrol stations.
• Perform 1–3 store deliveries; adapt to supermarket or petrol station stores.
• Operate Class 1 (and sometimes Class 2) vehicles; always paid at Class 1 rate.
• Carry out vehicle checks and maintain digital tachograph records.
• Adhere to client standards and schedules, ensuring compliance with WTD and driving hours rules.
• Present a professional image when arriving at stores.

Join Gi Group supporting one of the UK's biggest supermarkets, as a Class 1 Weekend Driver. This isn't just seasonal help; we are looking for professional drivers for a long-term partnership based in, Bedford. You will play a vital role in keeping the nation fed by delivering to stores and petrol stations across the region.

Role & Responsibilities

• Chilled & frozen loads, mostly stored in cages but some cases may be pallets
• 1-3 store deliveries , this can be to supermarkets or petrol station stores
• Drivers must be flexible to operate Class 1and Class 2 vehicles (always paid at Class 1 rate)
• Conducting thorough vehicle checks and maintaining accurate digital tachograph records.
• Drivers must drive as per clients professional standards which you will be coached and trained on
• Ability to manage your Working Time Directive, and Driving Hours rules and Regulations in order to meet compliance expectations, and avoid infringement
• Acting as a professional face of the brand when arriving at stores

• Minimum 1 weekend day availability is a must

Class 1 Driver Requirements
