Job summary

Gregory Distribution Ltd is seeking a Class 1 Driver based in Hereford, working a 4on 4off shift pattern with a 16:00 start. The role requires a UK HGV Class 1 CE licence, a DCPC card, and tachograph compliance. You will perform deliveries, conduct vehicle inspections, secure loads, and liaise with customers to ensure timely deliveries.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Class 1 vehicle in full compliance with transport regs.
• Execute scheduled out-and-back delivery routes with punctuality.
• Perform pre-, en-, and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Liaise with customers by phone/in person to support deliveries.
• Ensure load security with ratchet straps and safe handling.
• Maintain transport team communication and provide progress updates.
• Engage in regular training to stay updated on industry standards.

About The Role

• Operate a Class 1 vehicle in full compliance with all applicable local, regional, and national transportation regulations, ensuring the highest standards of safety and legal adherence at all times.
• Execute scheduled out-and-back delivery routes, ensuring punctual and efficient transportation of goods with timely return to the base, while maintaining excellent customer service and route integrity.
• Perform comprehensive vehicle inspections, including pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip checks, to identify and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Liaising with customers in person and over the phone to support the smooth execution of delivery operations.
• Master the art of load security with ratchet straps and part manual handling, ensuring every delivery is safe and secure.
• Keep in constant contact with the transport team, offering updates on your progress and ensuring our customers' expectations are consistently met.
• Engage in regular training sessions to stay updated with the latest industry standards and best practices, continuously improving your skills.

Essential Skills And Qualifications
