Job summary

GXO Peterborough is recruiting HGV Class 1 Drivers to support M&S. This full-time, permanent role operates on an any 5 days from 7 pattern (01:00–06:00 starts) and is contracted for 45 hours per week.

Pay includes £17.43 hourly rate (£40,786.20 annually) plus a £2.62 night shift premium (22:00–06:00). Overtime is paid at 1.25x, rising to 1.5x after 60 hours. Benefits include 28 days leave, pension, dental, GP service, and more.

Qualifications

• Class 1 driving experience is essential.
• UK driving licence with C+E entitlement.
• Valid Driver Qualification and Digital Tachograph Cards.
• No more than 6 penalty points.
• No DR, DG, DD, BA, CD, AC, LC or TT99 endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Carry out single and multi-drop deliveries across England and Wales with up to 2 drops per shift.
• Handle totes, rails and pallets and load/unload safely.
• Maintain clear communication with the Depot Transport Office and deliver excellent customer service.
• Operate company vehicles legally and complete all required documents on time.

You will be working on a full-time, permanent basis, on an ‘any 5 days from 7’ pattern, with start time window of 01:00 to 06:00, contracted to 45 hours per week.

• An additional £2.62 shift premium, for hours worked between 22:00 and 06:00

What you will do on a typical day:

• Carry out a mix of single and multidrop deliveries (typically up to 2 drops per shift) across England and Wales, collecting returns and equipment from stores as required, with no nights out
• Handle totes, rails and occasional pallets, ensuring safe and efficient loading and unloading procedures
• Maintain clear communication with the Depot Transport Office regarding any issues and deliver exemplary customer service by being polite and courteous at all times
• Operate company vehicles in a safe, legal, and efficient manner while ensuring required documents are completed accurately and on time

What you need to succeed at GXO:

• Previous experience driving Class 1 vehicles is essential
• Full UK driving licence with category C+E entitlement
• Valid Driver Qualification and Digital Tachograph Cards
• No more than 6 current penalty points
• No DR, DG, DD, BA, CD, AC, LC or TT99 endorsements
