Job summary

GXO Peterborough is hiring an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver to join our transport team supporting M&S. This is a full-time, permanent role on an ‘any 5 days from 7’ pattern with a start window of 01:00 to 06:00, contracted to 45 hours per week.

You will carry out single and multi-drop deliveries across England and Wales, handle totes and pallets, and maintain strong communication with the Depot Transport Office to deliver excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Previous experience driving Class 1 vehicles is essential.
• Full UK driving licence with category C+E entitlement.
• Valid Driver Qualification and Digital Tachograph Cards.
• No more than 6 current penalty points.
• No DR, DG, DD, BA, CD, AC, LC or TT99 endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Handle totes, rails and pallets, ensuring safe loading and unloading procedures.

As a Class 1 Driver, you’ll get:

• An hourly rate of £17.43, that is an annual salary of £40,786.20
• An additional £2.62 shift premium, for hours worked between 22:00 and 06:00
• Overtime paid at 1.25 of an hourly rate increasing to 1.5 above 60

What you will do on a typical day:

• Carry out a mix of single and multidrop deliveries (typically up to 2 drops per shift) across England and Wales, collecting returns and equipment from stores as required, with no nights out
• Handle totes, rails and occasional pallets, ensuring safe and efficient loading and unloading procedures
• Maintain clear communication with the Depot Transport Office regarding any issues and deliver exemplary customer service by being polite and courteous at all times
• Operate company vehicles in a safe, legal, and efficient manner while ensuring required documents are completed accurately and on time

What you need to succeed at GXO:
