Job summary

We Are Workforce Ltd in Cullompton is seeking a professional Class 1 Driver (C+E) to join the transport team delivering chilled goods across the South West from our Cullompton depot. You will operate articulated vehicles with a focus on safety, on-time deliveries and top-notch customer service.

This role offers early starts from 02:00, a 5-day week on a rolling 7-day rota, a modern fleet, and ongoing training with opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

• Valid UK Class 1 (C+E) Driving Licence required.
• Current Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card required.
• Good geographical knowledge and route planning ability.
• Flexible to start early and work on a rolling 7-day rota.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Class 1 articulated vehicle (C+E).
• Deliver chilled goods across the South West to depots and stores.
• Carry out trailer checks and ensure roadworthiness.
• Load and secure loads using load restraint equipment.
• Complete daily vehicle safety inspections.
• Maintain delivery documentation and comply with transport legislation.
• Communicate with transport team and update throughout the day.
• Follow driver hours regulations and Working Time Directive.
• Attend ongoing training and adapt to early starts.
• Be flexible to varying delivery schedules.

Class 1 Driver (Category C+E)

Location: Cullompton

Shift Pattern: 5 days out of 7 on a rolling rota

Pay

• £16.00–£20.50 per hour, depending on shift and experience
• Enhanced overtime rates available

The Role

We're looking for reliable and professional Class 1 (Category C+E) Drivers to join our transport team based in Cullompton.

In this role, you'll operate articulated vehicles, delivering chilled goods from our Cullompton depot to distribution centres, retail outlets, wholesalers, and convenience stores across the South West. You'll be responsible for ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on time while maintaining the highest standards of customer service and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Class 1 articulated vehicle (Category C+E).
• Deliver chilled products to distribution centres, retail stores, wholesalers, and convenience outlets across the South West.
• Carry out trailer checks and ensure vehicles are roadworthy before every shift.
• Ensure all loads are correctly secured using appropriate load restraint equipment.
• Complete daily vehicle safety inspections using a company-issued mobile device.
• Maintain accurate delivery documentation and comply with transport legislation.
• Communicate effectively with the transport team, providing regular updates throughout the day.
• Follow all driver hours regulations and Working Time Directive requirements.
• Attend ongoing training to remain up to date with industry regulations, compliance, and best practice.
• Demonstrate flexibility to accommodate early morning start times and varying delivery schedules.

Essential Requirements

• Valid UK Class 1 (Category C+E) Driving Licence
• Current Driver CPC
• Valid Digital Tachograph Driver Card
• Previous Class 1 driving experience is preferred, although newly qualified drivers may be considered.
• Good geographical knowledge and route planning ability.
• Strong understanding of driver hours, tachograph regulations, and transport compliance.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, flexible, self-motivated, and committed to safe working practices.
